If you want to get in some target practice,
Although Gettysburg was settled by veterans of the famous Civil War battle, the little prairie town is better know as the one "where the battle wasn't" with more of the history coming from the pioneers who made it their home in 1883. You can learn more about the area at the Dakota Sunset Museum. The official newspaper of Gettysburg and Potter County is the Potter County News. They have archives going back to the days when the town was first settled. Maybe you'd like to read up on the area, or just find a nice place to relax and curl up with a good book. Then you'll want to check out the Potter County Library.
Gettysburg has three parks to entertain folks of any age. The Little Angels park and Kidder Korner have fun playground equipment for the younger set, and the big city park has free camping, a baseball field, along with tennis and basketball courts.
